In November and December 2022, AV-TEST examined 20 security products for home users in their standard configuration. The latest publicly available versions of the products were always used for the test. These could update themselves at any time via online updates and use their "in-the-cloud" services. AV-TEST only considered realistic test scenarios and tested the products against current threats. The products had to demonstrate their capabilities using all features and layers of protection.
All products can achieve a maximum of 6 points in each of the three categories of protection, speed and usability. 18 points are the best possible test result.
A product with 10 points or more is awarded the AV-TEST seal of quality.
